Occasionally, site coordinators may need to drop students from their courses. This can be done from within our Student Information System (SIS), Genius, using the steps below.
- Log into Genius at https://qsivirtual.geniussis.com/
- Click the Students tab.
- Click on the name of the student you would like to drop. You will be brought to that student's main page.
- Click the Drop Requests link on the left side of the page
- Click Request New Drop. A window will pop up with fields for you to fill out.
- The Course field will show courses in which the student is enrolled. Choose the course from the pull-down menu.
- Choose a reason for the drop in the Reason field.
- The status field will automatically be set to APPROVED.
- Click the Save button.
- You will see the drop request listed.
Approve or Deny an Existing Drop Request
If your student has already submitted a drop request, you can approve or deny the request either from the student's page or from the Drop Request view under the Enrollments tab.
From the Student's Page
- Log into Genius at https://qsivirtual.geniussis.com/
- Click the Students tab.
- Click on the name of the student who submitted a drop request. You will be brought to that student's main page.
- Click the Drop Requests link on the left side of the page
- Drop requests that have not been approved or denied will have a WAITING_REVIEW status. Click the edit icon next to the drop request.
- In the pop-up window, change the status drop down to APPROVED to drop the student from the course. Change the status to DENIED to leave the student in the course.
- Click the Save button.
- The drop request's WAITING_REVIEW status will be updated to reflect your change.
From the Drop Request View
Site coordinators can also approve or deny drop requests from the Enrollments tab in Genius.
- Click the Enrollments tab
- Select Drop Requests from the left frame.
- Select one or more students by checking the boxes to the left of their names.
- Click Drop Selected to approve the drop request and drop the student from the course, or click Deny Selected to deny the drop request and leave the student in the course.
