How to Take a Screenshot

Windows PCs and Laptops

Full-Screen Capture

1. Press the Windows key + PrtScn key simultaneously.

2. The screen will briefly dim, indicating a successful capture.

3. The screenshot will be automatically saved in the Pictures > Screenshots folder.

Partial Screen Capture

1. Press Windows key + Shift + S.

2. The screen will dim and a small menu will appear at the top.

3. Select the desired capture mode (rectangular, freeform, window, or full-screen).

4. After selecting the area, the screenshot will be copied to your clipboard.

5. You can then paste it into an application or click the notification to edit and save it.

Mac Computers

Full-Screen Capture

1. Press Command + Shift + 3 simultaneously.

2. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop.

Partial Screen Capture

1. Press Command + Shift + 4.

2. Your cursor will turn into a crosshair.

3. Click and drag to select the desired area.

4. Release the mouse button to capture.

5. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop.

Capture a Specific Window

1. Press Command + Shift + 4, then press the Spacebar.

2. Your cursor will change to a camera icon.

3. Click on the window you want to capture.

4. The screenshot of that window will be saved to your desktop.

Chromebooks

Full-Screen Capture

1. Press Ctrl + Show Windows key (looks like a rectangle with two lines on the right side).

2. The screenshot will be saved in the Downloads folder.

Partial Screen Capture

1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Show Windows key.

2. Your cursor will change to a crosshair.

3. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture.

4. Release to take the screenshot.

5. The image will be saved in the Downloads folder.

iPhones and iPads

For devices with Face ID (no home button)

1. Press the Side button and Volume Up button simultaneously.

2. The screen will flash and you’ll hear a camera shutter sound.

3. A thumbnail preview will appear in the bottom-left corner.

For devices with a Home button

1. Press the Home button and the Side (or Top) button simultaneously.

2. The screen will flash and you’ll hear a camera shutter sound.

3. A thumbnail preview will appear in the bottom-left corner.

Android Phones and Tablets

1. Press the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.

2. You’ll see a brief on-screen animation and hear a capture sound.

3. A thumbnail preview will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Additional Tips

• On most devices, you can find your screenshots in the default photo gallery or file manager app.

• Many devices offer built-in editing tools for screenshots. Look for an “Edit” option after taking a screenshot.

• For scrolling screenshots (capturing long pages), check if your device has a “Capture More” or similar option after taking an initial screenshot
